Pedrom Nasiri MStJ (they/them)

Research Project Coordinator

Pedrom Nasiri is the YARI-Collective’s research project coordinator and oversees the day-to-day operations of the research project.

Pedrom is also a Joseph-Armand Bombardier doctoral candidate in the Department of Sociology at the University of Calgary. They are working under the supervision of Dr Pallavi Banerjee. Pedrom’s doctoral research employs critical phenomenology and intersectionality to examine the increasing prevalence of polyqueer families in Canada and the United States and their articulations with ongoing race, gender, and class formation projects.

Much of Pedrom’s work is guided by critical social theories that emphasise the need to employ academic theory and inquiry to address everyday social injustices. Pedrom has worked with various governmental and non-governmental agencies across Canada to address long-standing racial and heterosexist inequities in healthcare and social service systems. Pedrom has been recognised for this work by The Order of St. John, the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, and the Governor-General of Canada.
