Riann Lognon (she/her)
Riann is a PhD student in Sociology at the University of Calgary. After completing an interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree from Quest University Canada and working in urban agriculture and resettlement services for three years, Riann undertook her MA thesis research exploring community gardening and anti-racist storytelling with newcomer youth of colour as a part of the YARI-Collective. Building on this research and her interests in critical migration studies, Southern feminist qualitative research methods, and urban place-making, Riann hopes to continue learning about racialized newcomer youth and family engagements with land, agriculture, and food in her doctoral research.
