Riann Lognon (she/her)
Riann is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Sociology at the University of Calgary. After completing an interdisciplinary Bachelor’s degree at Quest University Canada, Riann has spent the last three years working on an urban farming project for newcomer families creating a sense of home and belonging here in Calgary. As she weeded, harvested, cooked, and cultivated both the land and a relationship to this place with these families, Riann has become fascinated by community urban agriculture. She is curious about the intersections of community, agriculture, re-settlement, and belonging found within such projects situated in the gendered, classed, and racialized contexts of urban and non-profit settings. Riann also spent the last year facilitating programming for refugee youth and is excited to continue working with these brilliant humans as a research assistant on this project.
